Ahhh … to remember the good old days of Rock ‘n’ Roll!

In the 1950’s a new era of music, attitude and clothing jolted the American mainstream - rock 'n' roll, varsity jackets, baseball and rockabilly liberated a great mass appeal. Rock 'n' roll grew on from the time of rural blues and urban rhythm and blues.

There are two main lines for this decade – for ladies, the cinched or wasp waist with beautiful and colourful full skirts with meters of underlay tulle and on the opposite, the sleek and appealing pencil skirt we still wear today often paired with a peplum top or loose blouse tucked in at the waist. Both are iconic looks that prevailed until around 1956 and can be described as fabulously sexy or fun and flirty!

Fortunately we can still wear both of these skirt styles today for some 1950’s rockabilly inspiration!

The beauty of this era is that there is a style that will suit most body shapes, and pleasingly, the more womanly the better. For those of us who lack those Marilyn curves, these can be created easily with a bit of help from wide belts and foundation garments and plenty of tulle!

The rockabilly era began as a type of music in the 1950’s that combined rock ‘n’ roll and country music. Several distinctive styles lay claim to the rockabilly signature and whether you want to embrace the rockabilly culture or simply experiment with the look for a weekend, you'll find all you need on our London Boots website.

Stock up on your vintage and 50’swardrobe essentials!

It just takes a little imagination and help from London Boots to gather your rockabilly wardrobe. The rockabilly look is pure American working-class with a little flash, swing and grease! Guys simply grab some dark denim in slim cut fit – make sure they are a few inches too long so you can ‘cuff’ them up! Pick up a pack of white T-shirts and roll back the sleeves.

Pick up some bowling shirts in pale blue and pink to add a little flair and colour to your wardrobe. Top with a varsity or baseball jacket … Dean Martin here you come! For smarter occasions think wool, fleck and tweed. Team trendy peg trousers with a skinny tie and consider a pair of cufflinks!

Vintage inspired collection of classy and fun dresses for the modern woman. The colorful and yummy designs include retro and rockabilly dresses, vintage dresses, mod dresses, 50s dresses, pin up and sexy rockabilly dresses. We also have plus size dresses, prom dresses, bridesmaid dresses and cocktail dresses.

Our collection of retro clothing is branching out into separates, accessories and more. So, look out for chic retro skirts and tops, vintage lingerie and retro purses.

We stock quality vintage inspired 1950's clothing and constantly strive to bring you brand new sensational lines. We also offer a made-to-measure service for all our rockabilly and rock ‘n’ roll skirts, peg trousers and jackets in high quality reproductions of original vintage designs.

Our fantastic Nottingham based showroom is open to the public to visit Monday to Saturday, where you will need to spend a few hours to look at all we have on show – we’ll even pop the kettle on for you!

Our very own brand Skye Clothing and Footwear is just amazing and is being sold by distributors all over the world, with our latest to join the team all the way over in Singapore! Rockabilly Clothing

For some the 1950’s was the decade that epitomised ‘cool’. The fifties had it all: legendary film icons like Marilyn Monroe and James Dean and also some of the greatest music artists ever like Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis and of course the irreplaceable Elvis Presley. The fashion of the fifties, however, was just as important a feature of the time as the music or movies and the distinct ‘Rockabilly’ look remains popular, particularly following the rockabilly revival during the late 1970’s and early 1980’s.

There are a large number of retailers and online stores which cater for both men and women who wish to recreate the look of the time. With a wide range of shirts (available in a range of colours and designs such as the ‘Day of the Dead’ as well as the classic ‘Hawaiian’ style) and turn-up jeans on the market it is now possible for men to recreate James Dean’s look in the iconic film ‘Rebel Without a Cause’ or that of other major figures of the fifties.

Thanks to these suppliers, women are also able to recreate the fashion of this influential decade with items of clothing such as blouses with classic rockabilly clothing designs, fur-lined jackets in colours ranging from black and white to pastel pink and even two piece blouse and skirt sets (both parts of which can be worn separately as well as together) which are also available in a veritable rainbow of colours and patterns ranging from black with red spots to silver sequins.

But of course, no outfit is complete without the appropriate footwear and for the ladies there is a wide range of fifties-style pumps made of imitation leather and adorned with a classic rock ‘n’ roll design and bow. Men are also catered for as these sellers supply a wide range of ‘Rockabilly’ footwear ranging from winklepickers, ‘Elvis Boots’ and biker boots.

Rockabilly Styles In The New Generation

To many the 1950’s was the decade that epitomised ‘cool’. The 50s had it all: renowned movie icons such as Marilyn Monroe and James Dean and some of the greatest music artists ever including Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis not to mention the irreplaceable Elvis Presley. The fashion in the 50s, however, it was just as important a feature of the time as the music or movies and the distinct ‘Rockabilly’ look appears forever popular, particularly following a rockabilly revival over the latter part of the 1970’s and early 1980’s.

There are a great number of retailers and online retailers which usually cater for both men and women who want to recreate the style of the period. Having a large selection of shirts (for sale in various different shades and styles just including the ‘Day of the Dead’ along with the vintage ‘Hawaiian’ style) and turn-up jeans available on the market it has become straightforward for men to recreate James Dean’s look in the famous movie ‘Rebel Without a Cause’ or that of other important figures in the 50s.

Thanks to these manufacturers, women can also create the style of the important decade with pieces of styles such as blouses with vintage rockabilly styles, fur-lined jackets in tones including monochrome to pale pink in addition to two piece blouse and skirt pieces (both parts of which can be worn individually as well as together) that are also for sale in a veritable range of different shades and styles which usually range from black with red-coloured spots to gold sequins.

But of course, no attire is complete with no suitable shoes and also for the women there is a large selection of 50s-style pumps manufactured from imitation leather and embellished with a vintage rock ‘n’ roll design and bow. Guys are also catered for as these kinds of suppliers give you a large selection of ‘Rockabilly’ shoes or boots ranging from winklepickers, ‘Elvis Boots’ and biker boots.
